AIPHS SUMMER PROGRAMS
All AIPCS students participate in a various academic programs during the summer,
including AIPHS's Summer School, Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, UC
Berkeley's Academic Talent Development Program, and SAIL Math.

AIPHS's Summer School
All AIPHS students attend Summer School for three weeks from June to July. This
extended school year provides each student with a better chance for academic
success.

Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY)
AIPHS believes strongly that the focus of the summer program at Johns Hopkins
University's Center for Talented Youth (CTY) meshes perfectly with AIPHS's own
philosophy: rigorous academics. In order to gain admission to the program,
students must take the SAT beginning in the 7th grade and score high enough to
meet CTY's challenging standards. This year, 44 students from AIPCS and AIPHS
qualified for the program, more students than from the rest of Oakland combined.
This percentage represents the highest participation rate of any school in the
United States.

UC Berkeley's Academic Talent Development Program (ATDP)
Students in this rigorous program are able to experience the challenges of college
academia while forming bonds with a diverse group of professors, mentors, and other
students. In order to gain admission to the program, students must demonstrate high
academic achievement and meet ATDP's high standards. In 2007, more than 16
students participated in the ATDP program.

Stanford Academic Institue of Learning (SAIL)
The Stanford Academic Institute of Learning (SAIL) Summer Mathematics
Workshop is a three-week long, accelerated math course. This course ensures that
all students are familiar with math and are confident in their academic skills when
they begin the official curriculum. Students spend six hours a day at the workshop,
allowing them ample time to master the material. They are also enrolled in a
physical education course, in which they train for the national physical fitness test,
which includes the shuttle-run, v-sits, sit-ups, and the mile run.
